THE OFFICE OF THE TERRITORIAL COMMANDER
January 1, 2020
To: Our Beloved Officers & Soldiers
Welcome to the New Year! It is indeed the time to be thankful for the blessings of the past year and to reflect on all the boundaries God has broken down in your life and how He set you on a forward and upward momentum. As we remember 2019, know that the past year does not define you even though it has shaped you. God’s vision of who we are and where we are going, has already been fashioned in His loving hands. Hear him remind us – “Forget the former things … do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18 -19).
We celebrate 100 years of spiritual and social ministry here in Nigeria this year. Our theme for 2020 for The Salvation Army Nigeria and for our Centennial Congress meetings is: BOUNDLESS POSSIBILITIES
As we enter this New Year, claim in faith, that it will signal a change to our situation and the circumstances that we grapple with and that there will be boundless possibilities to see the new thing God wants to do. The fact is, we are sure that we can confidently move forward, simply because we serve an all-powerful God who is timeless. A God who transcend time and generations, and is therefore not restricted by time, limited to space, or any generation, or handicapped by limited resources. “He is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:17) He is the God who is “the same yesterday, and today and for ever.” (Hebrews 13:8) With Him, all we dream of, or hope for, is possible.
This New Year, we are calling on all Salvationists to eagerly grasp every opportunity for personal spiritual growth and development. We are once again, beginning the New Year with our 31 days of prayer and fasting. There will be boundless possibilities for every officer, soldier, adherent, employee, youth and child to actively call on God to open the windows of heaven and pour out His love, mercy and blessings on us and on our Army in Nigeria. And that is just the beginning. In this centennial year, youth will be rallying to spread the good news of the gospel in new and exciting ways, women will be reaching out to minister to our communities in practical and compassionate ways and our men, will rightfully takes their hallowed place in the family and boldly lead us forward with clear 2020 vision throughout the year, during our Congress with our International leaders and into 2021. Expect great things from God. Believe it and claim it!
Let us begin now to pray and plan to become involved in this year of boundless possibilities, knowing that “God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. (Philippians 4:19)
